No Brake: How the 49ers Offense has Become as Explosive as the Defense

Anyone remember the sixteen-time world champion Ric Flair? WOOOOOOO.“The stylin', profilin', limousine-riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin' and dealin' son of a gun. WOOOOOOO!” He would say, “To be the man, you gotta beat the man. WOOOOOOO!”

Jimmy Garoppolo led the 49ers to a 48-46 victory over the Saints in New Orleans. They are the man because they beat the man in their own building. WOOOOOOOO! It wasn’t on the backs of the running game or their stellar defense. It was very much an air-assault all game long. This game was Jimmy G and Kyle Shanahan saying hold my beer and they went on the attack.

All season long we have heard the narrative that, well they haven’t played anyone.Or when everyone realized the defense was legit, Jimmy G is being carried by that defense. And then, of course, we cannot forget, what’s going to happen when they play the Aaron Rodgerses or Drew Breeses of the league. As great as the 49ers defense has been all season it has faltered a couple times and the offense was able to pick up the slack.

The defense’s worst outing all season was this past Sunday as they gave up 46 points, 465 total yards, and 28 first downs. That’s when the Mad Scientist Kyle Shanahan went to work. He pulled double reverse wide receiver pass plays, fullback option read-running plays. Then Garoppolo let the ball rip downfield, extending plays, and scoring more times than he did with that porn star last year.

The ACL is a nonfactor, and Garoppolo is coming into his own within the Shanahan offense. He is gaining confidence in his receiving corps, especially Emmanuel Sanders, Deebo Samuel, and Kendrick Bourne. As that confidence in himself and the players around him continues to grow you will see this offense putting up stats like it did against the Saints. And the biggest boost in their confidence is they know they can do it. They know they can go into a hostile environment like New Orleans and put up massive points and win. WOOOOOOO!

Just for fun, let’s take a look at the play of not only the game, but the play of the year.
