NFC West Free Agency Roundup

The new league year has officially started. For fans of  NFC West teams, here is what have they done so far in free agency. Are you happy with you has left or who has joined? What new challenges await the 49ers in the upcoming season?

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks free agency has been more subtraction than it was been addition. It was a foregone conclusion Earl Thomas was out the door. Last year the Seahawks failed to sign him to a long-term deal. The trade talks between them and the Cowboys fell apart last season and we all remember his one finger salute after his season ending leg fracture last season. But the Seahawks also lost starting guard J.R. Sweezy to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Seahawks’ offensive line has been a mess for quite some time and things looked like they were getting better last season but now it feels like they are back to square one. Good news though if you are a member of the 12s: reports that K.J. Wright is returning to Seattle.

Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals’ offensive line was abysmal last season. It was difficult to watch, as a David Johnson owner in fantasy, when he would run up the middle and get stopped right at the line of scrimmage. The addition of Sweezy from the Seahawks may help shore up their line. The Cardinals weren’t done on the offensive line as they also made a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert.

Jumping to the defensive side of the ball, the birds of Arizona have also signed former Eagles linebacker Jordan Hicks to a four-year deal, plus 37-year-old Terrell Suggs. Suggs, who had spent his entire career in Baltimore and wanted to go somewhere warmer to finish out his career, signed a one-year deal.

Los Angeles Rams

Just like the Seahawks, the Rams have had more subtraction than they have addition. They lost Rodger Saffold to the Titans. LaMarcus Joyner decided to take his talents upstate to Oakland. But they were able to replace him with former Ravens safety Eric Weddle to a two-year deal. Still no news as of yet what Ndamukong Suh plans to do after his one year with the Rams. But if you’re not a fan of the Rams, I’m sure you are hoping he takes his talents somewhere else.
