Victory in a Land Called Fantasy: Fantasy Players to Know and Watch for Super Bowl Weekend

The Super Bowl: the Patriots and somebody else for the millionth time since Brady and Belichick began their relationship so long ago. That somebody else this time around is the Los Angeles Rams. This isn’t the first time the two titans squared off on the gridiron. The Patriots first Super Bowl victory with B & B came against the “Greatest Show on Turf.”

The Rams were still in St Louis, the Seahawks were still in the AFC West, there were only 31 teams in the league, meaning Houston was still without a football team. That was then, and this is now, you won’t have Marshall Faulk or Kurt Warner on your fantasy team this Sunday, so who should you have?

Tom Brady

In his last three Super Bowl appearances Brady has thrown for at least 300 yards and at least two touchdowns, with no more than two interceptions. I would rather play the guy who has been there year after year instead of playing the young kid on the big stage who hasn’t looked the same over the past few weeks.

Running Backs

The Rams may have made it to the Super Bowl with C. J. Anderson, but they need Todd Gurley and you need to play Gurley in your lineup. If the Rams are going to have a shot at a Super Bowl victory they will need to get Gurley heavily involved, so I would be okay with him in my lineup.

Sony Michel should also be a good play this week. He has at least 100 yards in three of his last four games and multiple touchdowns in the last two games. If Gurley gives you pause I think you can also use James White, he has shown up big in the passing game. He is a nice outlet for Brady and he was one of the reasons for the Patriots comeback victory against the Falcons.

Wide Receivers

The safest and probably the wide receiver with the most upside would be Julian Edelman. Brady relies heavily on his bearded receiver, probably more so than any other Patriot. The next receiver I would have in my lineup would be Brandin Cooks. The last time he was in the Super Bowl he was in a Patriots uniform and was knocked out early. I would expect he’ll want to show up big for this one and I believe he has more upside than Robert Woods.

Gronk Smash

Win or lose, this could very well be the last game Gronk plays in and he will want to go out with a bang. Brady is not shy from letting his monster of a tight end go up and snatch the ball out of the air and I am going to expect some big plays from the two of them.

Good luck! Win some money and let’s pray this is the last Super Bowl with the Patriots for a very long time; we need someone else representing the AFC.
