Victory in a Land Called Fantasy: Who to Start, Who to Sit

Week 8 is upon us and we are six weeks away from the fantasy playoffs. Every win is important which means making sure your lineup is perfect is more crucial now more than ever. Four teams are on a bye this week: Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles Chargers, and Tennessee. As the 49ers get set for their matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, who should you start and who should you sit?

C.J. Beathard

In the Week 5 game against the Cardinals, Beathard was 34-of-54 for 349 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He was the QB4 on the week and if he didn’t have the two interceptions he would have been the QB2. This is a juice matchup and with quarterbacks like Matt Ryan and Philip Rivers on bye you may be searching for a quarterback. Beathard is playable in this matchup. I know he was seeing ghosts against the Rams, but the Cardinals are not the Rams and the 49ers should be able to move the ball this Sunday. START: C.J. Beathard

The Running Backs

Matt Breida, Matt Breida, Matt Breida, what are we going to do with you. Every week I have said start Breida and this week’s matchup is juice. The Cardinals are the second worst team against the running back position in fantasy. Breida has been a solid RB2 this season but has been knocked out of every game for the last month and I’m not sure if you can trust him, in your lineup. If you are desperate for running back I get it, but I would go for other options, like Marlon Mack vs. the Raiders or Jalen Richard vs. the Colts. Until the volume increases I would start Raheem Mostert unless you are in deep leagues, but I would keep my eye on him. START: Matt Breida if desperate and Raheem Mostert if in a deep league.

The Wide Receivers

So last week I said Marquise Goodwin should be a great start and you were rewarded with two receptions for 24 yards. Sometimes I hate my job. But it happens, not every piece of advice is going to work out. Fantasy analyst will tell you to sit someone that goes off and start someone that craps your team, it’s all part of the game.

The matchup is juicy and Beathard is going to have to throw to someone if he’s going to have a good game, right? I would start Goodwin in this matchup, I believe he can have a bounce back game this Sunday. I doubt you have rostered any other 49ers wide receiver and I wouldn’t jump to pick another one up. There is no way of knowing which one may get the points you need to succeed. START: Marquise Goodwin, SIT: Everyone Else

George Kittle

Remember when I said earlier how analysts will tell you to bench someone and then they’ll go off? Kittle was in the “sit” portion of most articles last week and he had five receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown. I hate to toot my own horn (not really), but I said to start Kittle. You can never bench Kittle; he is too good to have on your bench. Yes, from time to time he will disappoint, but so do Aaron Rodgers, Antonio Brown, and Ezekiel Elliott, but you would never bench them. Start Kittle with confidence, put him in your lineup and just leave him. START: George Kittle
