Well, well, well,

Pre-season is finally nearing the end of its run for 2018. While this is an exciting time for fans, gamblers and even some NFL vets, the reality of the situation is, most of these players who have fought their tails off in hopes of securing a final spot, will be unemployed until the next opportunity arises. While they wait for that life altering phone call, we’re going to delve into a few burning storylines for the final pre-season week of 2018.

Slow Start for Offense:

As expected, the Niners played their starters for the entire first half, but were only capable of scoring 6 points before swapping time with the reserves. The Niners found a little rhythm late in the first half, but stalled out and left with two field goals. Last two drives went for 16 plays, 73 yards in 7:44 min and a 10 play, 39 yarder in 3:46 min. There were a couple of huge drops by Garrett Celek, but Alfred Morris was one of the lone stars during that first 30 min period. He carried the ball 17 times for 84 yards while averaging a little more than 4 yards per carry. Safe to say, Morris may have secured a home for the 2018 season.

The Final 53:

Speaking of securing a home for the new season, all NFL rosters must be trimmed down to 53 active players by Saturday, September 1st at 4pm. I’m extremely excited to see what they do at the Wide Receiver position, since they seem to be sneaky deep at that spot. My prediction for the final depth at WR is: Pierre Garcon, Marquise Goodwin, Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis, Aldrick Robinson and Kendrick Bourne. They wind up sending Richie James Jr. and Victor Bolden Jr. to the practice squad and release Aaron Burbridge. Maybe a little too much wishful thinking but hey, one can dream can’t they?
