The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have signed guard Laken Tomlinson to a three-year contract extension. The deal is worth $18 million with $10 million in guarantees, per the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Tomlinson, a former first-round pick, started 15 games at left guard last season for San Francisco after being acquired from the Detroit Lions in August. The 49ers declined to pick up the fifth-year option on Tomlinson’s contract that would have guaranteed him approximately $9.6 million in 2018. Tomlinson is expected to compete for one of the team’s two starting guard positions along with Joshua Garnett, Erik Magnuson and Mike Person.
