49ers Re-sign QB Jimmy Garoppolo UPDATED

The San Francisco 49ers just announced that they and QB Jimmy Garoppolo have agreed upon a 5-year/$137.5m contract extension that will keep Jimmy with the team through 2023.

Jimmy joined the team after a blockbuster trade with the New England Patriots, sending a 2nd round pick in the upcoming 2018 draft for Garoppolo. In that time won 5 straight games including 3 over eventual playoff contenders, incluyding the Jacksonville Jaguars,

We do not yet have qord on the structure of the contract as far as incentives or the breakdown, nor a number as far as guaranteed money, but that will come out shortly.

UPDATE: News is still coming out about the contract and how the numbers will play out, but Matt Maiocco is reporting that the total guaranteed money will be $74 million

While not the largest guaranteed contract ever, we still need to see how the fully guaranteed money looks. It will likely be in the ball park of $40 million.

Adam Schefter is also reporting that over the first three years of the contract will include just under $90 million. A record for per year money ever in the NFL.
