49ers Work Out Cooper Helfet

According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, the San Francisco 49ers had former Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks tight end Cooper Helfet workout today.

Helfet is a 28-year old undrafted tight end from Duke University. During his junior year at Duke, Helfet was named as an honorable mention All-ACC player.

The Seattle Seahawks signed him on May 16, 2012, but released him shortly before the start of the 2012 season.

After spending time on Seattle's practice squad, he was signed by Oakland on October 11, 2016, and was placed on their practice squad. Before the start of training camp, Oakland placed Helfet on the Non-Football Injury List and released him on September 2, 2017.

Helfet has some regular season experiencing, starting a total of four games for Seattle in 2014 and 2015. He has 25 career receptions, 315 yards, and two touchdowns.

Helfet is a native of Kentfield, California in Marin County.
