The 49ers are making some transactions on Monday morning, following their Friday preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Per Tracy Sandler, of 49ersFanGirl, the 49ers have waived S Chanceller James and sign DL Leger Douzable and OL Andrew Gardner.
James, 22, was a rookie that signed with the 49ers this past season. He spent five seasons at Boise State as a safety. He was getting good reviews at camp, but sustained an injury that likely ended his run with San Francisco. With S Jimmie Ward and Lorenzo Jerome in the fold, the 49ers moved on from James.
Douzable, 31, is a veteran defensive line presence, who might get some action with an injury to DL DeForest Buckner. He's been in the NFL for nine seasons, with New York (N), St. Louis, Jacksonville, New York (A) and Buffalo.
This past season, Douzable appeared in 16 games -- with five starts -- and racked up 43 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He'll be a veteran that'll likely compete for a roster spot on a deep defensive line.
Gardner, 31, is returning back to the 49ers after spending some time with the team last season. He's also bounced around between Miami, Houston and Philadelphia.
After the performance of the offensive line on Friday, I'm sure the 49ers wanted some extra depth and competition at the position.
