49ersHub Player of the Week: PS Game 1 at Chiefs

The 49ersHub is proud to bring back the first edition of the Player of the Week, where the fans select one player who demonstrated superior statistical achievements and helped lead the 49ers to a victory.

It was a tough selection, as the San Francisco 49ers took on the Kansas City Chiefs on the road for their preseason opener. The 49ers came back for the victory, 27-17, with the third-string offense carrying the team to the W.

As a result, the fan voting gave the award to QB C.J. Beathard! Congrats to Beathard, who wins the award in his first appearance as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. In his debut, the ex-Iowa quarterback went 7-of-11 for 101 yards, with two touchdowns and a passer rating of 133.0.

He also had a beautiful 46-yard completion along the way, that helped bring the 49ers back in Kansas City. Beathard showed a lot of poise and made big plays when it mattered. For a rookie making his first start as quarterback, it was an impressive outing.

Stay tuned with the 49ersHub, as we will continue to announce #HubPOTW awards as the season rolls around. If you want your vote to count, make sure to follow us on Twitter @49ersHub and vote right after the game!
