In a somewhat surprising move the Chiefs have cut Jeremy Maclin. Maclin signed a 5 year $55 million contract with the Chiefs in 2015. With the Cheifs in 2015 he had 87 catches for 1088 yards and 8 touchdowns. In 2016, with the emergence of Tyreke Hill, his workload went down and he only caught 44 balls for 536 yards and 2 touchdowns. Maclin had his best year under Chip Kelly in 2014 catching 85 balls with 1318 yards and 10 TDs. Maclin is going into his 9th season in the NFL and has had a decent career with a total of 46 touchdowns. Should the 49ers take a look at the veteran receiver? He would defiantly add some veteran talent to the 49ers with a lot of guys, outside of Pierre Garcon, not having a lot of starting experience. They have already signed Garcon, Goodwin, & Robinson to go along with Jeremy Kerley who got a new deal during the offseason. The 49ers sure have the cap space to pay Maclin and can front load his deal. He’s not a speedy receiver but is great at the point of the catch, and could be a chain mover and an end zone threat. John Lynch has looked at every opportunity to make the 49ers roster better, and he will most defiantly take a look at adding Maclin. Real question is will Maclin be on board for a re build or will he be looking to sign with a team eyeing the playoffs.
