The 49ers made their final selection of the 2017 NFL Draft, with the No. 229 overall selection. They drafted Miami CB Adrian Colbert with presumably their final selection of the draft.
Originally, Colbert was signed on to play with the University of Texas, but he racked up some injuries. After some defensive coaches left Texas, Colbert decided it would be best to transfer to Miami.
Although Corn Elder and Rayshawn Jenkins got all the love last year in Miami, Colbert was an underrated prospect as well.
At 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Colbert brings some ideal size to the position. He ended up playing 7 games in his final season, totaling 22 tackles, one interception and three passes defensed.
According to Fox Sports, Colbert's biggest question marks is staying healthy on the field. He also has the chance of transitioning back to safety, instead of playing cornerback due to poor technique.
Colbert is the cousin of 49ers' WR Marquise Goodwin and wanted to cover him with Bills, but now he'll likely get the chance to cover him in practice.
The 49ers head into training camp with a heavy defensive draft, rounding out with Colbert here in the 7th round.
Welcome Adrian Colbert to the 49ers!
