New Coach, new Regime, and they're looking to get new playmakers. According to former GM Michael Lombardi, who's now an analyst on Fox, the 49ers are looking to trade TE Vance McDonald.
Right when Trent Baalke left, he signed Vance McDonald to a contract extension, a five-year one, which had him signed through 2021. The deal was worth $35 million.
This past season, McDonald caught 24 passes for 391 yards, with four touchdowns. It was similar to his 2016, where he caught 30 passes for 326 yards and 3 TDs.
McDonald has been notoriously known for his drops and brick hands. It has improved, but nonetheless can be frustrating at times.
It's also a deep draft class for tight ends and the 49ers have some interest in Gerald Everett and the other tight ends to be taken on Day 2.
