The San Francisco 49ers' preseason schedule is here. As expected, they'll take on the Denver Broncos, but the other three teams are different than usual.
Week 1: San Francisco 49ers at Kansas City Chiefs
Our very own Evan Sowards stated exactly what I was thinking in this tweet.
The 49ers will head to Kansas City and take on Alex Smith and the Chiefs, but he'll likely only play one quarter at most.
This will be Kyle Shanahan's first dry-run as Head Coach, with his entire staff and new set of players. Although nothing can be taken away from this game, it'll be interesting to see how the 49ers come out of the gate.
Week 2: Denver Broncos at San Francisco 49ers
This is the annual Broncos-49ers preseason game and practice week. It'll be cooler this year, with the Lynch/Peters-Elway relationship in the background.
Week 3: San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings
The 49ers will travel again to the east coast for a Sunday Night Football game against the Vikings. This will be the most important game for the 49ers, as it's usually the most time starters get to play.
What's interesting is that the 49ers will have to travel twice to the east coast in the preseason already.
Week 4: Los Angeles Chargers at San Francisco 49ers
This game typically features no starters and is more of a game to evaluate the fringe-roster players before the final cuts.
It'll also be the first matchup between Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan, could that be the next NFC West Coaching Rivalry? Time will tell.
For now, the preseason schedule is upon us!
