According to Ian Rapaport of NFL Network, ex-49ers LB Michael Wilhoite will be signing with the Seattle Seahawks.
Wilhoite was an undrafted free agent in 2011 from Washburn University. In his six season with the 49ers, he racked up 268 tackles and three interceptions.
When drafted, he was a solid backup to linebackers Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman, but as Willis retired and Bowman got injured, Wilhoite was thrust into a prominent role. As an UDFA, he was able to exceed expectations and be a starter in the NFL, but he was sufficient in his role.
The 49ers decided not to re-sign Wilhoite, as he was a free agent this year, even with a need at linebacker.
It's always interesting to see where free agents from the 49ers land, but to see Wilhoite land with the rival Seahawks isn't a pleasant sight.
Hopefully Kyle Shanahan and the offense will attack Wilhoite when they play Seattle this upcoming season.
