According to ESPN's Mike Triplett, RB Tim Hightower will visit the 49ers on Thursday.
Hightower, 30, who played with the New Orleans Saints the past two years, combined for 923 rushing yards, with 8 touchdowns. He was also big in the passing game, as he caught 34 passes for 329 yards, averaging 9.7 yards per catch.
The ex-Saints RB also spent time in Washington in 2011 under the Shanahans, where he ran for 321 yards, backing up Roy Helu.
Since the 2011 season, Hightower was faced with an ACL injury and infection that caused him to miss three years in the NFL.
In 2015, Hightower was the 13th overall running back, with an overall grade of 82.4, and was ranked one of the top bargain free agents.
If signed by the 49ers, he could potentially help the 49ers in the passing game more than the running game. The 49ers currently have Hyde, Davis and Mostert on their roster, and will probably look to add a few more heading into camp.
Let's see how the visit goes and what happens with Hightower.
