Earlier this afternoon, CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco had announced that the 49ers have two other mystery free agents in the building.
Twitter was on fire as fans of the 49ers went crazy trying to figure out who the free agents were. With Trent Baalke, usually these kind of things would leak to the National Media and people would eventually find out details on all these news.
Now, with John Lynch in the building, the leaks have stopped and it's harder to come by this kind of information.
It turns out the free agents that the 49ers were meeting with was none other than LB Brock Coyle and S Don Jones.
At the age of 26, Coyle will add a veteran presence to the linebacking corps. He is likely to fill the void that was left by LB Nick Bellore, who was a special teams ace. He played in 12 games for the Seattle Seahawks this past season, and started in three of those.
He tallied 16 tackles and one sack this past season, primarily playing special teams with the 49ers.
Jones was a former Houston Texan, who primarily played on special teams. He recorded a team-high 11 tackles in nine games this past seasons.
He'll be heading into his fifth season in the NFL, and has signed a two year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. He'll be another core special teamer for the 49ers, along with Coyle.
With these two signings, the 49ers continue to fill out the entirety of their roster. It's unreasonable to expect them to sign stars across the board because the salary cap just won't allow it.
Lynch and Co. continue to make smart moves to get this 90-man roster as strong as it can be.
