According to a report from Jane Slater at NFL Network, talks are "heating up" between the 49ers and DT Terrell McClain.
McClain appeared in 15 games with the Cowboys this past season, racking up a career-high 40 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
Pro Football Focus gave him a 44.9 rating, which was middle of the pack for interior defensive line players. He played in 500 snaps with the Cowboys, but with the defensive line depth in San Francisco, it's hard to see him getting that many snaps.
As Slater alludes to, McClain did play under Jeff Zgnonina in Houston and has played alongside Earl Mitchell during their time together in Houston.
It will be interesting to see if the 49ers go after McClain, as they look to beef up the defensive line.
