Tom Gamble is Leaving the San Francisco 49ers

February 23, 2017

Assistant General Manager Tom Gamble is leaving the San Francisco 49ers, the team announced on its Twitter account.

With Gamble out as the Assistant General Manager, I would fully expect Martin Mayhew to take the role after the NFL Draft.

There were reports that Mark Dominik could take a role with the San Francisco 49ers, but I'm not sure if they will choose to hire him.

This seems to be an overall good move, as Gamble was regarded as Jed York's guy, but it seems like John Lynch is calling the shots now. With the hirings of Adam Peters and Martin Mayhew, Gamble seemed to be the odd one out.

Shanahan had mentioned on KNBR that him, Lynch, Mayhew, Peters watch film on players every night, but oddly Gamble seemed to be missing from the list. It seemed logical that he was headed on his way out.
